School Programs

If you’re a grade school social studies teacher, Ben Edwards offers a variety of innovative school programs, including three field trip options and school author visits that your students will love.

The three field trip options (detailed at right) take place in downtown Boston, along the Freedom Trail.

For Ben’s acclaimed author visits, he travels to your classroom and discusses his book One April in Boston while sharing stories, photographs, engravings, maps and original colonial newspapers from his personal collection. Ben helps your students harness the power of imagination and understand the value of goal setting – two of the underlying themes in his book. More information about school author visits is detailed at right.

Ben Edwards is a resource that can make your job easier and your teaching more effective, even if you’re working with a limited budget. As an outstanding teacher, you’ve helped your students process information and learn in different ways. As a result, you recognize the value of using a variety of approaches to help keep students fully engaged and make learning fun. Ben Edwards shares fascinating stories, remarkable lessons and meaningful associations to bring history to life so it becomes memorable. Working with Ben can help you inspire your students in a fresh and exciting way. For more details, watch our school programs videos below.

No other Boston field trip offers you and your students all this!

  • A creative and engaging tour guide with family ties to the Sons of Liberty and Paul Revere!  Ben’s ancestors walked the same cobblestone streets as Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock and Samuel Adams.
  • Tour some of Boston’s most historic sites and, as a gifted storyteller, Ben will soon have your students surprised and fascinated by what they learn!
  • Free audio products for every student, including a children’s book that recounts the beginning of the American Revolution. Your students also get the eBook version!
  • Hold authentic and rare primary sources along the tour route.  Ben shares with the students several original colonial newspapers that were printed in revolutionary Boston.
